This Camcorder Comes With A HUGE Storage Space

The Sony HDR XR 160 Handycam camcorder offers a number of features and is the best digital camcorder that I have ever owned.

I was initially put off by the high price tag. After investigating all the features though, I decided to buy the Sony HDR-XR160. The first thing that I was impressed by was the image quality that this camcorder provides. It features high definition recording that is simply great.

Resolution

The Sony HDR-XR160 offers resolution of 1920 by 1080. The camera is also capable of capturing 1080/60 p images and playing them back on any electronics that have an HDMI port. I immediately made a few recordings and played them on my tablet. The quality was great, clarity was superb and there were no issues with the images.

The Storage Space Is HUGE

I was also impressed by the amount of video that can be kept on the Sony HDR-XR160. I knew it had a 160 GB hard drive before I bought the camcorder, but this does not really mean that much to me. What is meaningful is that I can store 54 hours of movies and other recordings on the device. I can record for days and not have to worry about transferring my files to my computer or tablet. This enables me a chance to be sure I like the recordings I have made before uploading them to my other devices.

Keeping Track Of Videos Is Easy

The videos are also easy to browse through. I thought with all that memory, I would lose track of everything that I had recorded. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to look at the hours of video that I have recorded. Videos can be grouped in a variety of ways. For example, I have one group for each of my kids. When they have a birthday party, I can record the entire event and save it in their group. Then I have a Christmas group. This allows me to save several Christmas celebrations in the same compartment. I can then play them back as a group to watch the years change in front of my very eyes.

Audio Quality

Another striking feature is the audio quality. I have watched a few bootlegs in my time, and the sound was terrible. I was expecting a hand held camcorder to sound like garbage. The Sony HDR-XR160 has the clearest sound I have ever heard. Sony has built in a Dolby Digital surround sound microphone that captures speeches and conversations. Background noises are reduced with Sony’s wind reduction technology.

Picture Quality Is Great

The picture quality is great, and this camcorder can easily stream video to any electronic device that has an HDMI port. The sounds are another feature that surprised me. Sony has a wind reduction technology on this camcorder that dramatically cuts down on background noise. All of these features are found in a camera that only weights 12.3 ounces.
