When it comes to capturing precious moments, special events, and first time occurrences, you want a good reliable camcorder by your side. You want something that will capture the action and deliver images that are just as bright and clear. I’ve been looking for a good handycam for awhile now and almost gave up on my search until I found the Sony DCR-HC36. It’s a mini digital camcorder or handycam that can fit in one hand.

My First Choice

 DCR-HC36 so lightweight, you’re able to film free handedly without getting tired or wearing out. I ordered it online and in just 2 short days my package arrived. I was very excited and put it to use right away. With a big family of infants, toddlers and grade schoolers, there’s always something exciting happening in our home. Whether it’s a baby’s first word, first step, a silly dance, or funny happenings, I want to be able to capture it on camera to be able to share the moments with family and friends. Also, it’s a great way to document your children growing up, family occasions and big events. We also go on a lot of family vacations, and having a compact camcorder captures the entire experience so that we’re able to go back and watch it over and over again. Sometimes you want live action and a still photo just doesn’t do the event justice.

My Favorite Features

I took my new Sony DCR-HC36 to a relative’s wedding the next day. So it came just in time. I recorded about 30 minutes of the ceremony and an hour of the reception. Recording was made super easy with the 2.5 inch swivel screen which is also a high resolution touch panel. I didn’t have to squint or zoom in a lot because the images we’re clearly displayed. I knew I was getting good shots. I was able to control the settings while still keeping the camcorder steady with the touch panel. It really made customized shots possible. I like the fact that this camcorder has 20x optical zoom option that allows me to get up close and personal without being so obvious. There were many times when a huge crowd stood between me and the main attraction. The optical zoom really saved the day. Otherwise I would’ve just captured the backs of a bunch of people.

Super Nightshot Plus

In addition, the Super Nightshot Plus featured gave off just the right amount of natural looking light when it came to filming in dimmer and low light settings. This was convenient, since the reception hall was low lit. At the end of the night and after 1 ½ hours of recording, my camcorder’s battery was still full; which was a very pleasant surprise. I could tell that the battery life was more than sufficient.

Manual Focus

The DCR-HC36 also has manual focus, on screen zoom, tele macro function and fader and picture effects.  Once I uploaded the images into my computer, it was like watching an HD movie. The pictures were so bright and so clear. There were no static shots or skipping throughout the entire video.
